BANDON — Southern Coos Hospital & Health Clinic (SCHHC) is seeking $164,000 in community support to replace its aging mammography equipment and help ensure patients continue to have access to reliable, up-to-date care close to home.
As the local critical access hospital serving Bandon and surrounding rural communities, SCHHC cares for people at every stage of life. Mammography plays an important role in breast cancer screening, where early detection can make a meaningful difference. Updated equipment will support patient safety, dependable imaging, and staff confidence in the technology they rely on.
“Keeping essential services available close to home matters deeply to our community,” said Alix McGinley Southern Coos Health Foundation Executive Director. “This investment will help our care team continue providing safe, compassionate mammography services for the people we serve.”
Community contributions toward the equipment will help address this vital need while preserving hospital resources for the broader resilience of rural health care. The Southern Coos Health Foundation also helps provide free prescreening for community members who cannot afford the service, including help with high-co-pays or deductibles.
With updated mammography equipment, SCHHC can continue offering an essential service locally, reducing the need for patients to travel farther for care. Community partners and donors are invited to support this investment in the health of Bandon and the surrounding region.
