Dr. Michael Ivanitsky Joins SCHHC Offering Surgical Services

BANDON – Welcome to Dr. Michael Ivanitsky, MD, who joins Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center’s surgical team with over three decades of comprehensive general Orthopedic Surgery experience.

Dr. Ivanitsky, FAAOS, earned his degree in Biological Science at Stanford University and attended medical school at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. In 1996 he completed his residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine – Orthopedic Surgery.

He specializes in less invasive primary total joint arthroplasty of knee and hip, direct anterior approach total hip arthroplasty, trauma, arthroscopy, and carpal tunnel release. Dr. Ivanitsky is the only orthopedic surgeon on the South Coast who uses the direct anterior approach to hip surgeries, a method he feels is less invasive with a quicker recovery and healing time.

Dr. Ivanitsky places strong emphasis on improvement of function, restoration, and quality of life for his patients. Dr. Ivanistky is eager to build relationships with patients and make a difference in the
Bandon community. He will be splitting his time between SCHHC and Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport.

Dr. Ivanitsky grew up in San Jose, Calif. His wife, Dr. Rochelle Tucker, is a psychiatrist and works for Coos Health & Wellness. The couple has two children, both teenagers, and they are raising their niece, also a teen. They currently live in Coos Bay.

In his spare time, Dr. Ivanitsky enjoys photography, archery, reading and cycling. He recently purchased an electric mountain bike.
