Women’s Health Day a Rousing Success

BANDON – The 21st annual Women’s Health Day, held Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Bandon Community Center, was deemed a rousing success! The event was sponsored by Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center and the Southern Coos Health Foundation. Over the past 20 years, Women’s Health Day has focused on healthcare-related topics that are relevant to women.

The event was free to attend, thanks to generous sponsors, including Bain Insurance Agency; Anne McCaleb, CPA; Advanced Health; Roger Straus, in Memory of Anita Straus; Beach Loop Realty; Bandon Chamber of Commerce; Virgova, LLC; Violet Flame Collective; Coastal Heat Pump; and South Coast Hospice; as well as an anonymous sponsor.

Over 135 women (and a few men) were present for the event. The topic was “Women’s Whole Health: Prevention, Care & Well Being.”  The keynote speaker was Gillian Ehrilich, ARNP, DNP, Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified in Functional and Ayurvedic Medicine, whose talk was well-received by those attending.

A Health Care Panel featured local medical practitioners, along with additional speaker Dr. Michael Torres, CMO of Coast Community Health Center, in the afternoon. The day was rounded out with two yoga breaks with Yazzi, a cooking demo video, raffles and drawings. Breakfast and lunch were served by the SCHHC Dietary Department and there were informational vendors as well as the Hospital Gift Shop’s pop-up shop.
