Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center to Open New Retail Pharmacy

The SCHHC Retail Pharmacy will Enhance Community Access to Care

May 23, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BANDON, OR – Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center (SCHHC) is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of its new SCHHC Retail Pharmacy, a significant step in expanding vital healthcare services for the Bandon community.

Anticipated to begin with a “soft opening” in June to ensure seamless operations and fully stocked shelves, the Pharmacy will officially celebrate with a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting and Bandon Chamber of Commerce mixer on Wednesday, June 18. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the Multi-Specialty Clinic (900 11th St. SE, Suite A), followed by a community celebration at the main hospital building at 5 p.m. Guests can enjoy live music, refreshments, view the current Art Show, and browse the Hospital Gift Shop. The public is warmly invited to attend these festivities!

To easily locate the new pharmacy, please note that the Multi-Specialty Clinic is a separate building, the first on the right when traveling east on 11th Street. Look for prominent banners and signs directing you to the pharmacy.

“Opening a pharmacy involves a complex web of regulations, and we’ve been working diligently to ensure all necessary approvals from the Board of Pharmacy, DEA, federal agencies, and state and local authorities are in place,” said SCHHC CEO Raymond Hino. “We sincerely appreciate the community’s patience as we finalize this crucial service, especially given the recent closure of the Bandon Rite Aid.”

The state-of-the-art Pharmacy is now complete and boasts a dedicated team, including Director of Pharmacy Jeremy Brown, PharmD, and Pharmacist David Zelman, along with skilled pharmacy technicians and support staff.

In exciting news, the SCHHC Retail Pharmacy will offer convenient seven-day-a-week service, operating from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. For inquiries, please call 541-347-1325 or email OPRx@southerncoos.org.

Once the Pharmacy is officially open, patients can easily transfer their existing prescriptions by contacting their providers or the SCHHC Pharmacy team.

“We are incredibly excited to bring this essential service to our community, and I extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has played a role in making this vision a reality,” added Hino, specifically acknowledging Chief Financial Officer Antone Eek and Senator David Brock Smith for his crucial assistance in expediting state approval through Governor Tina Kotek.

“We have a fantastic pharmacy team eager to serve you,” Hino said.
