BANDON – Clinical leaders representing all hospitals on the South Coast, from Reedsport to Gold Beach, met Jan. 15 at Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center in Bandon.

Organized by Dr. Alden Forrester MD, Chief Medical Officer and Hospitalist at Southern Coos Hospital & Medical Center, the meeting also included clinical leaders from Lower Umpqua Hospital, Bay Area Hospital, Coquille Valley Hospital, and Curry General Hospital.

Forrester said the idea behind the meeting was to gather local clinical leaders from the area’s hospitals in an effort to coordinate care of patients.

“We understand that many patients seek care at different facilities from across the region,” Forrester said. “Our goal is to coordinate care across the region as efficiently and safely as possible.”

Forrester said the discussion at the meeting was “extremely productive” and it was decided to continue to meet on a quarterly basis in hopes of coordinating care for an overall better patient experience.
