Dr. Paul Louis Preslar, D.O., MBA, Family Medicine, Primary Care Clinic
Paul Louis Preslar, D.O., MBA practices family medicine at the Primary Care Clinic at Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center (SCHHC) in Bandon. He joined the hospital with more than two decades of experience focusing on preventative medicine for patients of all ages, having previously practiced medicine as a family physician in Oklahoma City.
Born and raised outside of Houston, Texas, Dr. Preslar’s journey to medicine began with his early work as an EMT and ambulance attendant during high school and college. He initially earned an engineering degree from Texas A&M University, where he also met his wife, Jan. Following graduation, they settled in Oklahoma City, where Dr. Preslar worked for the Tenneco Company and Boeing Aerospace while earning an MBA in Finance. In 1986, he transitioned toward his true calling in medicine, taking night classes to fulfill his medical school prerequisites.
Dr. Preslar graduated from the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994 and completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma. It was there that he developed a deep passion for community service. For Dr. Preslar, family medicine represents the ideal balance between faith, family, and his profession. He is dedicated to practicing community-focused medicine and enjoys making a meaningful difference in patients’ lives, particularly by improving local access to care. “Promoting centenarians of the future … today” is his goal for patients.
The couple first discovered Bandon during a 2018 road trip along U.S. Highway 101. Drawn to the area’s stunning beaches and natural beauty, they returned for several visits before deciding to make Bandon their home.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Preslar is a licensed private pilot and an avid SCUBA diver — a hobby his entire family shares, leading to diving trips in St. Croix, Hawaii, Belize, Grand Cayman Island, Mexico, and the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Now, Dr. Preslar spends his free time traveling around Oregon, hiking, camping, and loving the beautiful outdoors the state has to offer.
