Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center, Bain Insurance Agency and The World newspaper are partnering to once again take a group photo of all Bandon-area veterans that will be published in The World’s special Veterans Day section. This has been a tradition for many years now, and was started by the Bandon Western World newspaper at Joseph Bain’s suggestion.
Bain has sponsored the photo ever since, partnering with the newspaper and now with Southern Coos Hospital, where Bain serves as president of the Southern Coos Health Foundation. Bain was himself a Vietnam veteran, and his father was a veteran of World War II. His goal is to honor and remember all veterans, he said.
All veterans are welcome, whether they served at home or abroad, during an active conflict or during peace time.
Veterans are asked to gather at the Bandon High School gym at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, for a photo and to enjoy refreshments and a social time afterwards. The photo can be emailed to those who attend, and they are welcome to purchase the newspaper on the day the photo is published.
