The second-annual Cookies for Santa event was attended by more than 65 children with their families Sunday afternoon at the Bandon Community Center.
The kids made crafts, had their faces painted, enjoyed healthy snacks, took a photo with Santa Claus, and heard “The Night Before Christmas” read by Mrs. Claus while enjoying hot chocolate. They left with tubs of frosting and cookies to decorate at home to leave for Santa on Christmas Eve. It was a fun event for the entire family.
The event was organized by Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center’s Dietary Manager Rita Hamilton and her husband Jeff Hamilton, who works in the hospital’s Engineering Department.
Also helping to make the afternoon enjoyable for all were Southern Coos Health Foundation Interim Director Alix McGinley (elf extraordinaire), Foundation Board member Melinda Torres, Marissa Nuez, who painted many little faces, SCHHC Dietary Department staff, including Cyndi Pennington and her son, and Amy Moss Strong and her daughter Autumn Moss-Strong.
Cookies for Santa was co-sponsored by Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center and the City of Bandon. A canned food drive benefited the local nonprofit Food & Faith.
Thank you to all the helpers and attendees for making it a success!
