BANDON – For the second year in a row, Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center held an employee fundraiser for Furry Friends Therapy Dogs, Inc., by selling “Candy Grams” for $1 each for Valentine’s Day, organized by the hospital’s Employee Activities Committee. The activity was so popular it raised $706 for the organization, with extra help from employee and EAC member Tina Gulseth. Last year, SCHHC employees donated $500 raised from the fundraiser.

The Employee Activities Committee plans activities throughout the year for staff to enjoy, including the annual holiday party, Valentine’s Day Candy Grams, St. Patrick’s Day potluck, Hospital Week festivities, annual summer picnic, Halloween fun, and Thanksgiving grateful board and pie potluck, among other activities.

Furry Friends Therapy Dogs visit Southern Coos Hospital every Thursday. Gabi, a standard poodle, comes with her handler Jeannie Scholl. Queen, a Queensland Heeler, visits with her handler Rose Anne Gates. The visits bring smiles to patients and staff alike.
