RN Float, Emergency & Med/Surg – Full Time (10:30am – 11:00pm)

This position is a Full Time, 36 hrs per week, 12 hour days shifts that floats between both ED and Med/Surg.

The Emergency Department RN Staff Nurse provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting.  He/she provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectations with minimum supervision.  This person is able to triage every patient that enters the emergency care system, safely, rapidly and accurately.  He/she is able to perform a Nursing Assessment following department policy and procedure, determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system.  Communicates with the Emergency Department provider about changes in patient’s status, symptoms, and results of diagnostic studies.  Ability to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.  Reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of Nursing.

The Med/Surg RN Staff Nurse is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit.  He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with Southern Coos Health District standards of care.  He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization.  Candidate should be flexible to changing systems, demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practices and treat staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect.  Reports to the CNO.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current licensure in Oregon as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Minimum of one-year Med/Surg and Emergency nursing experience required.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification required.
  • TEAM or TNCC certification preferred
  • CEN certification desired.
