Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center (SCHHC) has a Full Time, RN, Charge Nurse Position in the Nursing Department.  The Charge RN assists and directs the activities of the hospital units to provide optimum care in accordance with established policies and procedures in addition to supervisory responsibilities. He/she is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned unit. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with Southern Coos Health District standards of care. The Charge Nurse demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. The Charge Nurse supervises staff RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and Unit Secretaries. The Charge RN is the primary decision maker on weekends and off shifts and has the responsibility for contacting the on-call Administrative staff as indicated according to the nature of the problem. The positon reports to the Nursing Manager.

 Skills, Knowledge, & Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Oregon.
  • BLS and ACLS required.
  • At least one year of Med/Surg nursing experience.

 These positions are Full Time, 12 hour shifts, benefits eligible.
