Southern Coos Hospital & Health Center (SCHHC) has an opening in their Surgical Services Department for a Surgical Nurse, Per Diem.  A surgical RN, using the nursing process, is responsible for assessing the health status of the patient in order to develop an individualized, age specific plan of care by collecting, categorizing and interpreting data from documented information, observation, patient/family interviews and other health care team members.  The RN is responsible for the perioperative nursing care of all assigned patients and assigned additional duties in Pre-Op, OR Suite, PACU, Endoscopy and Central Sterilization to maintain the department in a state of readiness at all times.  Assist Anesthesia during induction, prior to prepping patient for the surgical procedure.  Communicates with Surgical Technologists, and other members of the Surgical Team to maintain a continuity of care for patients undergoing invasive and non-invasive procedures. Supervision of the patient immediately post-operatively in a post anesthesia care unit. Reports to the Surgical Services Manager

Educational Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and currently licensed to practice in the state of Oregon.
  • Current ACLS, BLS.
  • At least one year acute care nursing experience required.
  • One year surgical experience preferred.

 This is a Per Diem position which means hours will be assigned as needed (varied) and this position is not eligible for SCHHC benefits.
